Black Kitchen Cabinet Finishes
Black kitchen cabinet finishes are popular. At The Cabinet Folks, I’m finding that lots of people want dark cabinets to contrast with light colored walls or a marble countertop. Not all of the manufacturers I deal with are making black cabinets, and I was curious to know which popular manufacturers have such kitchen cabinet finishes.
Diamond has an heirloom black kitchen cabinet finish, as do a couple of the other manufacturers in the MBCI family. It’s a black cabinet finish with some “aging” or “distressing,” whichever term you prefer.
This is available for maple and oak generally, and looks slick on either.
I tried to find a black finish on Kraftmaid’s site, but things on their site either don’t work, or just don’t work well in the Firefox broswer. I got a couple of 400 errors and things just hanging up. There are some black kitchen cabinets available from Kraftmaid; I almost saw them. If anyone HAS seen Kraftmaid images of black kitchen cabinet finishes, please let us know with a comment.
I talked to Adam at DirectCabinetSales.com, who helped me lay my hands on some more pictures of black kitchen cabinet finishes. These two here are Stickley Wide cabinets by Ultracraft (part of their Destiny line), in Oak with Wenge Finish
Here’s another shot of the same kitchen from beside the island. Looks like Ultracraft offers some stainless steel or aluminum doors; I’m noticing some other companies doing this too. Armstrong just started last year.
Another shot, of an office done in a rustic looking black finish is also made by Ultracraft. These cabinets are Destiny cabinets as well. The doors are Andover in maple with Ultracraft’s Old World Black kitchen cabinet finish. It looks as though they’ve antiqued the finish.
Thanks again to Adam at DirectCabinetSales.com. It looks like the Ultracraft company offers quite a bit in black (with different glazes and sheens) and he can probably get them for you. If black kitchen cabinet finishes are what you’re after, give him a shout.
